Starrett Screw Thread Gage System Components Available

Starrett 1120 Screw Thread Measurement System
The Starrett 1120 screw thread measurement system was discontinued by Starrett in 1991. Starrett has also stopped supporting this screw thread measurement system as of 1998. Gage Crib Worldwide Inc stopped supporting the Starrett 1120 screw thread measurement system in 2008. Starrett replace the 1120 screw thread measurement system with the 1130 screw thread measurement system.

Replacement for the Starrett 1120 Screw Thread Measurement System
The replacements for the Starrett 1120 Screw Thread Measurement System were eight model numbers including: 1130; 1131; 1135; 1136; 1137; 1138; 1140; and 1141. All of these models have been discontinued by Starrett as of October of 2008. If you own one of these Starrett Screw Thread Measurement Systems, or have purchased a used Starrett Screw Thread Measurement System, you may need support for them, or additional parts and pieces to make them more functional for your production needs. Starrett has sold the manufacturing rights to Allen Engineering so purchase of new gage systems of the same design are available through Gage Crib Worldwide Inc. We also have a nice selection of Used/Surplus Johnson Gage Components which in many cases are fully interchangeable on the newer Starrett systems.

Starrett 1130 and 1131
The Starrett 1130 and Starrett 1131 Tri-Roll Indicating-Type External Screw Thread Gage Systems are almost identical. The Starrett 1130 is a bench model and the Starrett 1131 is a hand-held model. The frames come in four sizes variants designated by dash-numbers after the model number. The sizes range is from #2 (0.086) to 3”.
The Starrett 1130 and Starrett 1131 Tri-Roll Frames are very similar to the Johnson Gage ‘C’ Tri-Roll Frames in the same size range. The Setting Templates and the Gage Rolls are interchangeable between the two screw thread measurement systems.

Starrett 1135 and 1136
The Starrett 1135 and Starrett 1136 Segment-style Indicating-Type External Screw Thread Gage Systems are almost identical. The Starrett 1135 is a bench model and the Starrett 1136 is a hand-held model. The frames come in four size variants designated by dash-numbers after the model number. The sizes range is from #8 (0.164) to 3”.
The Starrett 1135 and Starrett 1136 Segment-style Frames are very similar to the Johnson Gage ‘B’ Segment-style Frames in the same size range. The two systems are not 100% interchangeable. The Starrett 1135 and Starrett 1136 do not require Cradle Setting Templates where the Johnson Gage B-series Segment-style Frames do require Setting Templates. The Starrett 1135 and Starrett 1136 Gage Segments will/may not work on the Johnson Gage B-Series Segment-style Frames, but the Johnson Gage Segments will work on the Starrett 1135 and Starrett 1136 Frames.

Starrett 1137 and 1138
The Starrett 1137 and Starrett 1138 Tri-Roll Indicating-Type External Screw Thread Gage Systems are almost identical. The Starrett 1137 is a bench model and the Starrett 1138 is a hand-held model. The size range for the Starrett 1137 and 1138 frames starts at 3” with no maximum size specified. The gage rolls used with these frames are not interchangeable with the smaller sized frames. We are not going to claim any interchangeability to Johnson Gage with these frames.

Starrett 1140
The Starrett 1140 Segment-style Indicating-type Internal Screw Thread Gage System has a size range of #10 (0.190”) to 3”. The Starrett 1140 Frame and the Johnson Gage GJ-5 can share Thread Segments, but there may be a fit issue with the cone. If you are having issues with the cones, we will work with you to resolve those issues.

Starrett 1140A
The Starrett 1140A Tri-Roll Indicating-type Internal Screw Thread Gage System has a size range beginning at 3” with no maximum size specified. We are not going to claim any interchangeability to Johnson Gage GH-5 Frame with the Starrett 1140A Frames. If you are looking to work with either the Starrett 1140A or the Johnson Gage GH-5 we may be able to facilitate an economical solution.

Starrett 1141
The Starrett 1141 Segment-style Indicating-type Internal Screw Thread Gage System with Concentricity/Squareness Ring has a size range of #10 (0.190”) to 3”. The Starrett 1141 Frame and the Johnson Gage GJ-6 can share Thread Segments, but there may be a fit issue with the cone. If you are having issues with the cones, we will work with you to resolve those issues.
