ISO 2853 Stainless Steel Threaded Couplings for the Food Industry
ISO 2853:1993 Scope
This International Standard specifies the dimensions, tolerances, surface roughness, materials, assembling end hygienic requirements for: welded and expanded type male parts and liners, and; nuts and gaskets, in stainless steel threaded pipe couplings for the food industry. Male parts and liners in stainless steel threaded couplings for the food industry are intended to be used with stainless steel tubes specified in ISO 2037
ISO 2853:1993 Annex A; Trapezoidal Threads Intended for Threaded Couplings
The screw thread specifications are all located in Annex A (pages 12-15). The fourteen “trapezoidal” threads defined in ISO 2853 are all 8-TPI ACME threads. The thread specifications are all millimeters. A quick comparison to ANSI/ASME B1.8 ACME shows that the screw threads are within rounding variance of the 3G class-of-fit. The standard specified Nominal Diameter is the Coupling Size; which is much smaller than the thread Major Diameter.
